You cannot screw up this recipe.. Well, not unless you overbake it! I like soft brownies so I underbake by a few minutes. LOL!!
I’ve been making this recipe for years. ALMOST as easy as a box. Only thing that might take a bit longer is melting the chocolate and such.
1 cup vegetable shortening
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup flour
Melt chocolate and shortening together. Set aside. Beat eggs. Add sugar and mix. When chocolate mixture is cool, add to sugar and eggs. I typically temper it (mix a bit in one, then into the other, then back again.) Add salt and vanilla and mix a short time. Then stir in the flour. Mix well. Pour into 13×9 greased baking pan and bake at 350 approx 25 minutes. Do not overbake!
